The Ladysmith Eagles Auxiliary donated $1,500 to the new Transfer Beach Playground on January 22nd, to which the local Kinsmen and Rotary are working towards rebuilding. The playgrounds that are there were built by the clubs almost 20 years ago and now are showing their age.
Over the years rules and regulations, regarding playgrounds, have changed and new safety measures have been initiated. The plans for the new playground have been done up and the cost is expected to be around $175,000.
To date about $105,000 has been raised and both clubs are working on projects to raise the balance. It is hoped that the new playground can be ordered by June so that it can be in place by early summer.
The Oceanview Community Church will be holding the 3rd annual Eggs Benefit on Sunday, June 14 with all proceeds going to the new playground. Eggs benefit will feature over 12 local “celebrities” making omelettes and the entire community is invited to come out. It’s all by donation,
There has been an account set up at the Ladysmith Bottle Depot where folks to donate the proceeds (or partial proceeds) from their returns and also an account has been set up at the Ladysmith Credit Union for people to make donations there.
